How can you help/support/motivate your students to engage in extensive and intensive reading? Would you like your students to have their own library of over 1000s of interesting/authentic passages? Would you like to have free access to the reading materials that are ready to use? Would you like to know your students’ reading habits?

ReadWorks resources support/motivate students to engage in intensive and extensive reading. Teachers can use ReadWorks to help the growth of successful, joyful readers. Students will have their own library of over 1000s of interesting and authentic passages to choose from. You may use it for hybrid and remote learning.

In this session, you will learn:

• to create a free ReadWorks account, class, and check students’ reading habits to assign them interesting readings,
• to use ReadWorks effectively and synchronize your Google Classroom, and
• to assign reading to the whole class/individual students/groups and check/assess assigned reading.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Gonul has a B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Women Studies, and a Master of Applied Linguistics (TESL), both from Brock University. She has taught ESL in China and Turkey. Since 2013, she has taught a variety of EAP courses at Niagara College in the School of English Language Studies. Gonul currently works as a Drop-In Facilitator in the Niagara College Library, and an interpreter for the Canadian Border Service.
