Tutela’s integration with Avenue.ca

Making it easier to use Tutela resources as you build Moodle-based courses.

1. What is Avenue.ca?

Avenue is the portal for Moodle-based online and blended settlement language training. It is funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and the Ontario Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD). Visit Avenue.ca to learn more.

2. What is the integration between Avenue.ca and Tutela?

Single sign-on: If you’re already logged into Avenue.ca, you can simply click the “Log in with Avenue” button on Tutela to log in without entering more details. There’s also a streamlined approach to creating a new Tutela account using your Avenue.ca details (see 4. below).

Easy access to Tutela resources: On Tutela, you can easily add resources to your “Avenue Folder”. They will then be accessible from the “Tutela Resources” folder in your Avenue.ca account. This folder will appear when you’re picking your files to build your courseware.

3. What if I don’t have an Avenue.ca account?

If you're a professional working in a language training program funded by IRCC or MLITSD, then you are eligible to join Avenue.ca.

If you're a LINC or adult ESL instructor (funded by MLITSD), ask your manager to fill out this Google form: Avenue-LearnIT2teach Training Request Form.

If you're a CLIC teacher, ask your manager to fill out this Google form. If you're an adult FSL instructor (funded by MLITSD), ask your manager to fill out this Google form.

Once processed, everyone will be notified directly on how to get started.

If you're a Program Administrator or stakeholder working in an IRCC-funded or MLITSD-funded program and would like an Avenue.ca account, please contact learnit2t@gmail.com for more information.

4. What if I have an Avenue.ca account but I’m not a member of Tutela?

First, log into your Avenue.ca account. Then go to Tutela.ca and click on the prompts to register for a new Tutela account. Given the integration, you’ll be able to use some of your Avenue.ca details and won’t need to wait to be approved.

5. What personal information about me is shared between Avenue.ca and Tutela?

The only personal information that will be shared is your email address. It will be shared one way from Avenue.ca to Tutela.ca in a secure manner and for authentication purposes only. This allows the single sign-on feature to work, enables the streamlined registration and approval process for a new Tutela account (as applicable), and grants you access from Avenue.ca to the resources added to your “Avenue Folder” on Tutela.
